themisto is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanner. The App performs BLE scanning on your device and displays nearby device details (such as device identifiers, names, signal strength, and advertisement/manufacturer data).

  • No account required: we do not require you to create an account.
  • No selling of personal information: we do not sell your personal information.
  • On-device processing: scanning results are processed locally on your device.

2. Information the App may access

The App may access the following categories of information as part of its core function:

  • Bluetooth data: nearby BLE device identifiers, device names (if broadcast), signal strength (RSSI), and BLE advertisement/manufacturer data.
  • Location-related permission status (Android): Android may require location permissions and location services to be enabled for BLE scanning. The App uses this to determine whether scanning can run. The App does not use this to determine your precise physical location.
  • Basic device/app information: such as platform and app version (used for troubleshooting and compatibility).

3. Permissions

The App may request the following permissions depending on your device:

  • Bluetooth: to scan for and connect to BLE devices.
  • Location (Android): required by Android for BLE scanning on many devices/versions.

You can control permissions at any time in your device settings. If you deny required permissions, scanning may not work.

4. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide BLE scanning and display scan results in the App.
  • Enable/disable scanning based on Bluetooth availability and (on Android) location service requirements.
  • Maintain stability and troubleshoot issues (for example, handling scan errors on-device).

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. The App is designed to operate primarily on-device and does not intentionally transmit scan results (such as nearby device identifiers or advertisement data) to our servers.

If you share screenshots, logs, or exported content from the App manually, you control what is shared.

6. Data retention

The App is designed to show BLE scan results in real time. Unless you explicitly export/copy data yourself, we do not store your scan results on our servers.

7. Children and families

The App is available for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us (for example, via email support), please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the App and the information handled within it. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective date at the top.
